National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Park

In celebration of the historically Black Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities known as the Divine Nine, which comprise the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), the Division of Student Affairs, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, and the Office of Inclusive Excellence are excited to announce the construction of the National Pan-Hellenic Council Park on the Statesboro campus of Georgia Southern University to recognize the enduring presence of NPHC Greek-letter organizations and their impact on the university and the larger community.

Your support will help us to achieve our goal for this project; which will bring together alumni, parents, current students, university friends, and other donors from all walks of life to make this project possible.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) was organized in May 1920 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The NPHC is a non-profit, private organization that recognizes the need for coordination of activities of inter-collegiate based Greek fraternities and sororities and makes certain that all member organizations have unanimity of thought, action and mutual interest. The council serves as a forum for the discussion of their common problems; however there is a respect for the rich history and autonomy of each organization represented.

NPHC is composed of nine International Greek letter Sororities and Fraternities. The Council was established on November 10, 1999 on the Statesboro campus of Georgia Southern University. Notwithstanding, some of the current NPHC member organizations were chartered on campus as early as 1977. Since then, NPHC organizations have continued to band together to make a collective difference within Georgia Southern and the Statesboro community.

The NPHC Park will be constructed to symbolically and physically represent each NPHC Greek-letter organization’s presence on campus and to give students, alumni, parents, and other members of the campus community with a place for belonging—to contemplate and remember, gather, and celebrate, while educating students about the history of these diverse organizations.

The NPHC Park is scheduled for completion by December 2021.

The NPHC Park will be located next to the Carruth Building in front of Lake Wells on the Statesboro campus.

The project will be funded through institutional support as well as money raised by Georgia Southern NPHC-affiliated alumni, faculty, staff and other friends.
