Interpersonal Violence

What is Interpersonal Violence?

Student Wellness & Health Promotion recognizes the prevalence and impact of sexual violence, sexual exploitation, interpersonal violence, stalking, and harassment within higher education. We are committed to the role we play in providing a safe and supportive campus community.

The University provides support and reporting options for students who have experienced sexual and interpersonal violence.

In addition to leading a campus-wide response with the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), Student Wellness & Health Promotion develops, implements, and supports primary prevention efforts seeking to change the underlying conditions and structures that enable violence, including systems of oppression. Our violence prevention programs strive to reduce risk factors and promote protective factors at each level of the socio-ecological model. Our main educational focus supports evidenced based primary prevention efforts of gender/sexual violence and interpersonal violence including; teaching consent, concepts of a healthy relationship, bystander intervention and creating a culture where survivors are believed.

Our office also assists with the management of the Vector LMS training for Sexual Assault Prevention. This training is a requirement for both incoming undergradate and graduate students at the University. This Title IX and Clery Act Training engages students in fostering healthy relationships and preparing them to recognize and respond to sexual assault and harassment when it occurs.
