Reporting Options

If you have experienced sexual assault, you have several reporting options including reporting to law enforcement and/or the institution. You can choose to report to one of these options, both, or neither. You also have confidential reporting options both on and off campus.

Reporting to Law Enforcement

If you report to law enforcement you can choose whether or not you want to immediately pursue a criminal investigation. Once you file a law enforcement report, you have up to one year to decide how you want to move forward, if at all. If you have an immediate emergency, contact the police by calling 911. You can also use the below contact information for each campus location:

Reporting to the Institution

You can report to the institution to pursue an on-campus investigation that is separate from law enforcement. Law enforcement investigations look at whether a law may have been broken, while on-campus investigations determine if school policy was violated. Reporting to the institution does not mean the institution will automatically report the sexual assault to law enforcement, however the institution can help you file a law enforcement report if you would like to do so. There is also no statute of limitations on filing a report with the institution.

The Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX

To file a report with the institution, you can contact The Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX.

Title IX Coordinator: Amber J. Culpepper, J.D.
Phone: (912) 478-5136
Email: eeo-titleix@georgiasouthern.edu
Online Reporting Form (This form also allows for anonymous reporting)

Anonymous Reporting

You may file a report anonymously to The Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX through the online reporting form. Incidents may be reported without disclosing one’s name or identifying the accused, or by requesting no action be taken. However, this may limit the institution’s ability to respond to the anonymous report.

Confidential Reporting Options

If you are unsure whether you want to report to law enforcement or the institution, or you do not yet want it reported, there are confidential reporting options both on and off campus that can assist you.
