Absentee Ballots

Absentee Ballot Process:

Absentee voting is available and no excuse is required. Voted ballots must be received by Election Day in order to be counted.

You do not need to provide a reason to request an absentee ballot by mail. You may request an absentee ballot as early as 180 days before an election.

Absentee ballots may be returned through the mail or in person, but must be received by election day in order to be counted.

Common reasons why your Absentee ballot
may be rejected:

  • Completing your ballot incorrectly
    • Make sure you follow instructions on the color ink allowed
    • Avoid liquid stains
    • Make sure there are no random markings outside of the boxes
  • Failing to add signatures
    • Some absentee ballots require signatures on the envelopes or security pages
    • Ensure you sign everywhere you should before sealing your ballot
  • Using a different signature than normal
    • Some states verify that your signatures match what is on file
    • Do not use your a different signature than your what is one file
  • Mailing or turning in your ballot too late
    • Georgia requires the ballots to be in the election office by the date of the election
    • Each state has its own rules so make sure you check the deadlines connected to your state
