Overview of OCPD Events

Eagle Expo

Eagle Expo is one of the largest career fairs on campus hosted each semester and typically features approximately 100 employers from a wide variety of industries.  There’s something for everyone at this fair—participating employers seek students from all colleges and majors.  Eagle Expo is usually held in late September and late February on the Statesboro Campus.

Education Career Fair

This fair features over 50 school districts from all across Georgia and neighboring states. This is a great place to start for students interested in teaching or counseling in a particular district or county. The Education Career Fair is currently held on both Armstrong and Statesboro’s campus. Check the above event list for specific information concerning each campus.

Graduate School Fair

The Graduate School Fair is the best place to speak with graduate school admissions representatives in one place!  Held annually each fall semester to accommodate application deadlines, this fair brings together representatives from universities throughout Georgia and the surrounding region.

STEM Career Fair

The STEM Fair is a career fair featuring employers in the STEM fields searching for candidates to fill co-op, internship and full-time positions.  Students in the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) and College of Science and Math (COSM) won’t want to miss this fair. The STEM Career Fair is held in early September and early February on the Statesboro Campus.

STEM Night

Focusing on the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) industries, these events are usually held near the beginning of each semester, in early September and early February.  STEM Night brings employers together for a panel discussion and information sessions, designed to help students understand the value of co-op and internship experience and how to best prepare themselves to become top candidates. STEM Night is held on the Statesboro Campus.

Information Sessions & Tables

Throughout the semester, recruiters come on campus to meet students and share information about their companies.  Information sessions are presentations given by recruiters to groups of students.  Some companies choose to set up information tables throughout the day in high-traffic areas, like the Union or in a specific college’s lobby area.  Visiting there is a great way for employers to connect with students majoring in specific areas of interest.

Résumé Boot Camp

These workshops, held throughout the semester usually 1 – 2 weeks before a major career fair on campus, give students the opportunity to “drop-in” and quickly have their résumé reviewed by a Career Development Specialist without making an appointment.  Students may bring a résumé they’ve already created or start from scratch, and our team of professional staff members will help define experiences to best sell the student’s skills to potential employers.
