David Simpson fell in love with journalism while working at his college newspaper. He went on to spend 31 years as a professional reporter and editor, including managerial jobs at The Associated Press and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Samantha Reid earned a bachelor’s degree in fine and graphics arts/marketing from Virginia Intermont College. She was a newspaper and magazine designer and a marketing production manager at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah before she came to Georgia Southern for graduate school. She became a graduate assistant in the Office of Student Media and was selected as business coordinator in 2014. She has a master’s degree in public administration from Georgia Southern.
She has primary responsibility for marketing and advertising operations, advises student design staff and trains all student staff in leadership and performance. She also is an adjunct professor teaching a First-Year Experience class.
As a freelance journalist, Bill Dawers has written more than 2,000 columns and articles for the Savannah Morning News. He is a senior lecturer on the Armstrong campus, with a joint appointment in the Writing & Linguistics and Communication Arts departments. He also does freelance photography and is the founder of the music blog “hissing lawns.” He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Washington University in St. Louis.
