David Simpson fell in love with journalism while working at his college newspaper. He went on to spend 31 years as a professional reporter and editor, including managerial jobs at The Associated Press and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Crystal Howard came to Georgia Southern in 2020 after eight years in television journalism, most recently at WTOC-TV in Savannah. She is a graduate of the University of Memphis and started her career at Memphis station WMC-TV.

Faculty Advisor – Bill Dawers | Armstrong Campus
As a freelance journalist, Bill Dawers has written more than 2,000 columns and articles for the Savannah Morning News. He is a senior lecturer on the Armstrong campus, with a joint appointment in the Writing & Linguistics and Communication Arts departments. He also does freelance photography and is the founder of the music blog “hissing lawns.” He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Washington University in St. Louis.
