Eagles in DC
Program Information
The Eagles in D.C. program is an exciting and intensive 4 – 14 week program during fall, spring, or summer semester that provides you with a congressional internship in Washington, D.C. You will be selected based on a number of criteria including previous leadership and civic experiences and you will be placed in an office based on your academic area of study, political perspective and home district.

- Fall Application Deadline – April 15
- Spring Application Deadline – October 28
- Summer Application Deadline – February 15
Job Duties
Internship job duties and responsibilities vary by office and the ability of individual students. For example, Eagles in D.C. participants have attended hearings, drafted memos, run errands, given Capitol tours, participated in research projects, provided clerical support, and assisted in writing legislation.

Expectations
- Professionalism (including dress, phone etiquette, understanding Congressional office environments, confidentiality).
- Positively represent Georgia Southern University.
- Attend preparation and follow up meetings (e.g. How to be Successful during your internship, Evaluation of the experience, sharing your experience with other students).
Eligibility
- Participation is open to all majors.
- Have a GPA of at least 2.8.
- Have completed 48 hours of credit prior to the semester you will be an intern.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Interest in current events and interning in Washington, D.C.
- Selection is based on academic standing and potential for leadership in politics and government as indicated by grades, work experiences, extracurricular activities, interests, and maturity. You will be asked to furnish transcripts, as well as references from people who have worked with you.
