Three-Strike Alcohol Policy

(1) First Violation – Students will be placed on Disciplinary Probation for their next three months of enrollment and be required to complete an alcohol education course. There is a fee to register for the course. Students will also be subject to a fine; along with parent notification if Student is under 21 years of age. Students who fail to attend the assigned course will be required to pay for an additional course. Additional sanctions will be assigned at the discretion of the University Student Conduct Board or University Hearing Officers.

(2) Second Violation – Students will be placed on Disciplinary Probation for their next six months of enrollment and be required to complete an alcohol education course. There is a fee to register for the course. Students will also be subject to a fine; along with parent notification if Student is under 21 years of age. Additional sanctions will be assigned at the discretion of the University Student Conduct Board or Hearing Officers.

(3) Third Violation – Students found responsible for violating the University’s alcohol policy for a third time (regardless of the time elapsed between violations) may be suspended for a minimum of one semester. All Residence Hall fees and deposits may be forfeited. Additional requirements pertaining to substance abuse may be a condition for readmission.

Violations of disciplinary probation generally will result in more serious disciplinary action against the student, such as suspension or expulsion from the University.
