Nursing
Major Information
Nursing, probably one of the most popular of all health careers, employs the largest number of health care
providers. Patient contact and responsibility are ever present for nursing professionals who are challenged
daily to provide personal and direct client care. Clinical skills, sensitivity, stamina, and judgment are needed
in order for nurses to meet the physical and emotional needs of their patients. Nursing, a demanding and
responsible profession, also requires compassion and offers a wide variety of career opportunities. At
Georgia Southern University there are three tracks students are able to take to achieve an undergraduate
nursing degree: the pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the accelerated BSN program for the
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and the online BSN program for the Registered Nurse (RN). Entrance into
the School of Nursing is separate from entrance into the University; please visit the department website for more information.
