Art

Major Information

The major in Art prepares an individual to work in a variety of settings requiring an education in the liberal
arts and design. Students who are interested in “ands on” experience in the visual arts would pursue a degree
called the Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.). This degree is intensive and prepares students to work as professional artists or designers. Whether a person chooses employment in industry, in a school system, or self-employment, the Art major offers a student an opportunity to develop skills in problem solving, critical thinking, management and administration, and communication. It is advisable for the art student to prepare for today’s employment market by taking classes in computer graphics and/or other general computer classes.
