What We Do

Sustain Southern oversees the student group Eagles for Sustainability (E4S), which includes a one-year Sustainability Leadership Certificate. Sustain Southern also hosts educational workshops on a variety of sustainability topics guided by the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The Campus Community Garden which is under Sustain Southern provides a great opportunity for students to learn about and engage in the sustainable practices of food growing. The Garden is located between the Herty building and the Williams Center.

Additionally, Sustain Southern also manages the Sustainability Project Proposal Fund, which is used to directly support sustainability projects on the Statesboro campus. Since 2014, the Project Proposal fund has allocated $1,100,000 towards campus sustainability improvements.

Lastly, Sustain Southern also hosts the annual Southern Sustainability Week – a week-long campus focus on sustainability with numerous exhibitors, vendors, and community members partaking in sustainability awareness.
