Mission Statement

Georgia Southern University's
Office of Student Leadership and Civic Enagement seeks to provide service opportunities for students, faculty,
and staff on our campus and in the surrounding community by serving as a clearinghouse to
match community needs with student and employee interests and talents.
To accomplish this goal it will assist the community
in assessing needs, inform students and employees of these needs in order to promote their
involvement, and provide training and consultation to volunteers and community service
personnel. In addition, the office seeks to recognize students and
employees who
make significant contributions through volunteer efforts in the community by the awarding
of service transcripts to those students who complete a requisite number of service hours
and certificates to employees who have provided outstanding service through leadership.
It is hoped that these students and university employees will have an enriching
experience through service and will continue to promote the concept of service learning
and experiential learning opportunities in their future lives.
