On Friday, November 16, 2007, a group of ETS mentoring academy students attended the GASPP "Annual Student Initiative Leadership Weekend." The students stayed in the Westin Atlanta Airport hotel where they got to meet students from several other TRIO programs across the state. The students participated in academic competitions. Whitney Jackson, Swainsboro High School junior, won 1st place in the essay writing competition. The students also attended several workshops. The weekend was wrapped up with a breakfast and presentation from Sue Hawks Foster, Director of the Georgia Soutehrn University Educational Opportunity Programs office and the GASPP president.
