Director of Student Media – David Simpson

David Simpson fell in love with journalism while working at his college newspaper at the University of Alabama. He went on to spend 31 years as a professional reporter and editor, including managerial jobs at The Associated Press and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He came to Georgia Southern in 2014.

Assistant Director of Student Media – Justine Cozza

Justine Cozza joined us in 2023 after spending seven years in television news. She worked in two newsrooms in her home state of New York and also in Philadelphia, one of the top five news markets in the country. Most recently, she was executive producer at WTOC-TV in Savannah.

She is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She majored in English/communications with a concentration in broadcasting. She also worked for the student-run newspaper. Contact her at jcozza@georgiasouthern.edu

Faculty Advisor – Bill Dawers | Armstrong Campus

As a freelance journalist, Bill Dawers has written more than 2,000 columns and articles for the Savannah Morning News. He is a senior lecturer on the Armstrong campus, with a joint appointment in the Writing & Linguistics and Communication Arts departments. He also does freelance photography and is the founder of the music blog “hissing lawns.” He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Washington University in St. Louis.
