What is A Day for Southern?

The second Tuesday in September is traditionally recognized in Bulloch County as A Day for Southern. On this day, the community rallies together in support of scholarships, research, and facilities by donating to the Georgia Southern University Foundation. This day, combined with the on-campus campaign, raises over $1 million each year!

The on-campus campaign for faculty, staff, and students takes place the weeks prior to the second Tuesday in September, A Day for Southern, to build momentum before going into the community. Faculty, staff, and now students donate over one-third of the campaign total! Learn more history.

How Students Got Involved.

In Spring of 2009, a Public Relations Campaigns class conducted research on-campus to see what students knew about donating to Georgia Southern and whether students believed they should participate in giving. What they learned:

Make your Gift

The student campaign begins the first day of Fall semester and runs through the first of September. Students can make a contribution in person at the University Store. Greek Life and Housing will also provide giving opportunities for students involved in their organizations or see a Southern Legacy student representative set up on campus during the campaign.

You can also give online - must have a minimum donation of $5.

If every student gave a dollar...
Will your gift be counted?
