Regent's Review Course Appeal Policy

Policy:

All Georgia Southern University students are required to take and pass both parts (Reading and Essay) of the Regents’ exam, unless they have met specified exemptions that satisfy the Regents’ requirements. Transfer students are allowed two semesters in which to pass the Regents’ exam. After that time if they have not passed the exam, they are required to enroll in the Regents’ Review class(es). All other students are allowed three terms of enrollment to take and pass the Regents’ exams.  After three semesters they are required to enroll in the Regents’ Review Course for the part(s) they have not passed.  Each semester is considered an attempt.

Appeals:

A Student may appeal one time only the requirement to be enrolled in the Regents’ Review class(es). Certain conditions are grounds for an appeal:
Appeals will be considered based upon the information you submit on the attached form. Submitted appeal forms are reviewed daily and notification of results is given within 24 hours. If approved, the student will be excused from the Regents’ Review class(es) for one term only. If the student does not pass or take the Regents’ exam during the semester of the appeal, they will be required to enroll in the Regents’ Review class(es) the very next term of enrollment, and every term until the Regents’ test is passed. No future appeals will be granted.
