Properties of Materials: 3-0-3

Introduction to the properties of semiconductors, magnetic materials and superconductors. Particular emphasis will be placed on semiconductors with regard to developing an understanding of light emitting diodes, diode lasers and quantum well devices. Graduate students will be given an extra assignment determined by the instructor that undergraduates will not be required to do. Prerequisites: PHYS 2211 or PHYS 1111 and PHYS 2212 or PHYS 1112.
