Experience
. . . The Eagle Leadership EDGE is a specially designed
multi-phase program for first year students, and is your first step toward
becoming a student leader at Georgia Southern University. Participants meet for 10 weeks on Monday and Tuesday afternoons during Fall and Spring semesters. What you will experience
through EDGE in your first year at Georgia Southern University will provide you with opportunities
for further involvement in campus life, introduce you to other students
and campus administrators, and enhance your personal growth and
development.

Develop . . . Your time at
Georgia Southern University is an opportunity to learn more about yourself
and others, as well as the subject matter taught in your classes. The
Social Change Model for Leadership Development, upon which the Eagle
Leadership EDGE program is based, views leadership as a process, not a
position. Leadership involves collaborative relationships that lead to
collective action grounded in the shared values of people who work
together to effect positive change. During the semester, you will work to
develop these collaborative relationships with other EDGE participants. |
|
Grow . . . During your Eagle
Leadership EDGE Experience, you will grow as you learn how to use your
natural talents and gifts to the best of your ability. You will grow to
fulfill your goals and potential as you gain a better understanding of
leadership and your role as a leader at Georgia Southern University. You will continue to develop
your leadership skills as you interact with other EDGE participants
throughout the program. Some of the topics we will cover to aid in your
growth include:
Personality Type
Leadership Styles
Cultural Diversity
Communication Styles
Team Building
Appreciating Differences
Goal Setting
Community Service

Emerge . . . When you complete
Eagle Leadership EDGE, you will have an understanding of the process of
leadership development. You will learn to view leadership as a
collaborative effort. You will develop a valuable connection with the Georgia Southern University
community and build confidence for participating in future endeavors.
You'll become familiar with activities and organizations on campus. You
will develop friendships with other Georgia Southern University leaders on the EDGE, and you will
emerge as a leader yourself! |
