Be sure to apply at the Student Employment Center as well as with the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement.

• Help first-year students get acclimated to campus and the Statesboro community
• Serve as a crew leader to lead a small group of 10 incoming first-year students
• Participate in an intense service project benefiting Statesboro
• Serve as a role model and resource for new students
• Plan and facilitate leadership development activities.

Do you have what it takes?

• Be reliable, responsible, confident, sincere, dedicated, and flexible.
• Be willing to work outside, doing manual work (building houses, etc.) in August.
• Have a commitment to serving others and leadership development.
• Possess good communication skills in order to facilitate small group discussions.
• Display a willingness to help others and enjoy working with people.
• Maintain 2.5 GPA.
• Have completed at least one semester at Georgia Southern by January 2008.
• Enroll as a Georgia Southern undergraduate student in Fall 2008.

The pay:

BUILD Leaders can choose to participate and receive Service hours OR to be paid a $200 stipend to be awarded at the end of August.

Calendar of commitments:

BUILD: August 8-14, 2008 and/or July 25-31, 2008 (We will run 2 BUILDs this summer, so we will be looking for leaders for both sessions. Please mark your availability for sessions on the application. You need not be available for both to apply).

Training: Weekly Training for 1-2 hours beginning after Spring Break and lasting until Finals.

BUILD Retreat: April 18-20, 2008

How do I apply?

Apply through the Student Employment Center and complete the departmental application. Applications are due Friday, February 29th at 5pm in the Office of Student Leadership, Union 2022.
