BUILD 2 (August 5-9) Information
Important BUILD Information
Check-in:
Student check-in for the BUILD will take place on Saturday, August 9 from 5-7pm and again on Sunday, August 10 from 9am-11am at a location TBA. Students will be able to spend the night on Saturday evening, if they wish. Specific information about check-in will come in a confirmation letter mailed to each participant in July.
Housing/Move-in/Accommodations:
Students living on-campus in the Fall:
Participants who are living on-campus in the fall will be able to move their possessions into their assigned rooms upon arrival. Students will be able to move into their room for the Fall on Saturday, August 9 from 5-7pm. However, students will not be able to spend the night in their assigned room on that Saturday evening. After moving into their assigned room for the fall, they will take all of their BUILD bags, linens, and materials to the BUILD on-campus location (TBA). Students will be asked to return their key for their assigned fall room, as they will not be living in these rooms again until Thursday, August 14. Student keys will be returned on Thursday, and students will return to their assigned room after the closing events on Thursday afternoon.
Students participating in BUILD 2 will stay in both a Residence Hall and a common living area. There are common bathrooms and showers for BUILDer use. BUILDers will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow, as well as toiletries. The common area will be locked when participants leave the building. More detailed information about living accommodations will follow. Accommodations will be on-campus.
If students do not want to move in on the Saturday prior to BUILD, they can move in their belongings on Friday, August 15.
A specific ‘What to Bring’ list will be mailed with BUILDer confirmation letters sent in July.
Students living off-campus in the Fall:
Students living off-campus in the fall will need to consult their lease agreement to see when they can move into their apartment/house. If students can move in before the BUILD program starts, then they can move in their belongings at that point. If the lease does not begin until after August 10, the first time participants will be available to move their belongings into their off-campus living arrangement is after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14th.

What Service Activities will I be doing:
BUILD 2 will provide several different service opportunities. Students will spend their days working with Habitat for Humanity, Kingdom Builders, and local community agencies to help make their volunteering experiences in the Statesboro community complete. Examples of activities include: building playhouses for Habitat for Humanity and repairing houses with Kingdom Builders. There will be a lot of physical building and relationship building. It will be hot, and we’ll be outside for the majority of the work, so please pack appropriately, and be ready to make a difference!
