Thanks for your interest in joining an Interfraternity Council (IFC) fraternity at Georgia Southern University! Fraternities within the Interfraternity Council at Georgia Southern University have a formal one week recruitment process as well as an informal, year-round recruitment which allows men to join organizations at any point throughout their experience at Georgia Southern.
Students who are first-semester, freshman are able to join a fraternity in their first semester on campus with 2.75 or higher high school GPA. As you’re looking at your membership options, please keep in mind that some chapters may have higher GPA requirement for membership.
Current Georgia Southern students with an established GPA may join at any time of their collegiate careers with a collegiate GPA of 2.50 or higher. As you’re looking at your membership options, please keep in mind that some chapters may have higher GPA requirement for membership.
Below are some additional pieces of information regarding membership in an IFC organization:
- East Georgia students are not eligible to join fraternities.
- Students enrolled in the Georgia Tech program at Georgia Southern are eligible to join fraternities.
- Grade requirements and hours are verified through the University.
- Letters of recommendation from alumni are not usually required.
- Organizations can recruit members each semester, skip semesters, or participate once every other year. It is the decision of the individual fraternity when to accept members.
IFC Formal Recruitment
Participants will visit all 20 fraternities within IFC and throughout the week narrow down their membership options based on connections they have made throughout the week. IFC Recruitment will kick off on January 30th with an informal event at the Rotunda. Rush will be held on February 5th – February 9th. The cost is $30.
Eligibility Requirements: Only men that are first semester, first year students with core high school GPA’s of a 2.75 may be considered for membership. Otherwise men with a 2.5 Georgia Southern/college GPA based on 12 or more credits will be able to participate.
