Telephone Information
Beginning in the summer 2009, University Housing will not be providing active telephone lines in most residence halls. Instead an emergency response panic button will be installed that allows for direct notification to University Police of an emergency.
University Villas will still have local phone service provided by the university – one line per apartment.
One phone jack available in each living room and bedroom (at student expense):
Centennial Place, Eagle Village, Southern Pines, Southern Courtyard, University Villas: Each bedroom and living room in these buildings has a phone jack; however, it is not activated nor are the charges included in the semester fees. Students living in one of these units have the ability to connect the bedroom phone line through Frontier (the local phone company in Statesboro) and will be responsible for all associated charges. To connect the bedroom telephone line, contact Frontier directly at 1.800.435.1504 or 912.764.9131 or visit
www.FrontierOnline.com. Available services for students in these buildings include local, long distance, voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, high-speed internet(DSL), etc. Students are required to provide their own phone.
For the 2008-2009 Academic year:
Kennedy Hall has had their phone lines deactivated and the new panic buttons installed.
Sanford, Watson, & Brannen Hall rooms will have their panic buttons installed and their phone lines deactivated during the Spring semester. An exact date is not known at this time.
