So you're considering coming to Georgia Southern University and living on campus. As you're probably already aware, First-Year students who attend Georgia Southern are required to live on campus. Please use the links to the left to get an idea of what it's like to live on campus. We've also provided some informational links so that you're aware of Housing's policies and services, how computers access the internet from residence hall rooms, and even some ways that you can get involved on campus.
Students can apply for an exemption from the First Year Live On Requirement online beginning November 1, 2008. Students may request an exemption for the following reasons. Please note: Even if you qualify for an exemption, you MUST complete the online request form by May 1st, 2009 for the 2009 - 2010 academic year.
- Student will be 21 years of age by the day of Spring Commencement (for 2009-2010, that date is May 8, 2010)
- Student is married as of the first day of fall semester or is the sole custodian of a dependant child
- Student has 1 year of Active Duty military service
- Student has accumulated 30 hours of academic credit accepted by Georgia Southern University
- Student will be living with their Parent or Legal Guardian in the Parent/Legal Guardian's principle place of residence that is located
- in one of the following counties (important: students must live with their parent/guardian for the entire academic year):
- Bryan County, Bulloch, Candler, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Jenkins, or Screven
