Frequently Asked Questions about Lofting and Bunking

Can 2 lofts be installed in approved lofting buildings?
YES

Can a student build their own loft?
YES. A student can build their own loft as long as it is built to the specifications shown on the website.

When is the Loft Request Form required to be submitted?
At time of arrival – give to your RA. – Must be signed by both roommates.

Why does the Loft Request Form have to be signed by both roommates?
To avoid disagreements – some roommates may not want a loft placed in their room.

Does the loft have to be inspected after being installed?
No. Students are completely responsible for lofting installation safety.


For Your Information

Lofts and bunking are not available in the following Buildings:
Southern Pines, Southern Courtyard, University Villas, and Eagle Village

Eagle Village beds have adjustable height brackets allowing students to raise or lower beds based on preference. Beds must be adjusted by Housing maintenance staff.

Students are to place work orders if they want their beds bunked or EV beds adjusted – Work orders are placed through Housing website or by clicking here.
