IT/IS Student Assistant Job Descriptions
Two positions available

Overview Basics
  • Part Time Hours: no more than 25 hours per week
  • Hourly compensation rate: based on experience
  • Will work around class schedule
  • Open to all classifications - Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, and Graduate

Applications must be turned into the University Housing office in Watson Hall with a copy of the student’s class schedule. Applications received without the class schedule will not be considered.

Positions open until filled.

The Department of University Housing provides Georgia Southern University students with housing options, which are affordable, convenient, and well maintained. The Housing website (www.gsuhousing.com) is the main source of information for prospective students. Our new Residential Management System (RMS) allows us to more efficiently make housing assignments for our students.




Positions Available:

PHP/MySQL Developer: Qualified applicants should have knowledge of HTML, Dreamweaver, PHP, and MySQL. Familiarity with content management systems is a plus. Proven ability to learn IT skills quickly and work within deadlines. Ability to work independently and on a development team.

The preferred IT Specialist applicant will have previous experience developing web pages using HTML, and the PHP programming language in combination with a MySQL database. This position will give the successful applicant solid experience in a production environment developing web applications for www.gsuhousing.com.


SQL Specialist – Database/Oracle/SQL
Requires the ability to develop complex SQL queries of Oracle databases, familiarity with ERD’s, data dictionaries, and experience with extracting data using various tools such as SQLplus, Pl/SQL, and TOAD. Experience with Crystal Reports a plus.
The position of SQL Specialist will generate reports for our Residential Management System (RMS) by querying an Oracle database. Open to all serious students with Oracle skills.
