The Department of University Housing provides Georgia Southern University students with housing options, which are affordable, convenient, and well maintained. The Housing website (www.gsuhousing.com) is the main source of information for prospective students. Our new Residential Management System (RMS) allows us to more efficiently make housing assignments for our students.




Positions Available:

PHP/MySQL Developer:

Description:

The purpose of this position is to enhance WHISPER, Student Web, and to develop other ad hoc forms and advanced PHP/MySQL programming to satisfy the needs of Housing administrators and customers. This will be done under the supervision of The University Housing’s Assistant Director of Administrative Services and Technology Coordinator.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Programming with PHP and MySQL for creation of new forms or modules for WHISPER, University Housing Web site’s content management system.
  • Understanding of design with HTML and CSS and reporting with Microsoft Excel.
  • Managing the Student Web configuration for RMS (Residential Management System) and its integration with the Housing Web site.
  • Advising the Assistant Director of Administrative Services for University Housing about the technical aspects of proposed projects for the Housing Web site.
Qualifications:

Must have previous experience in HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL programming. Also, Web page layout, Web site architecture, and content management systems is important. Experience using Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro. Organizational skills and a willingness to be part of the Housing technology team are required. Qualified applicants must quickly understand other programmers' code and perform job duties involving deadlines.
