Since its founding at the University of Virginia on December 10, 1869, Kappa Sigma has initiated more than 245,000 men on college campuses throughout the United States and Canada. Today, the Fraternity has over 175,000 living alumni and more than 13,500 undergraduate members.
Our proud history of producing campus leaders who go on to succeed in business, government, the armed services, sports, entertainment and the arts has led to Kappa Sigma’s continuous and unparalleled growth across the continent.
At Georgia Southern, the Kappa Zeta Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity was founded on October 26, 1968. Since then, our chapter has become one of the top fraternities on campus as well as the largest fraternity that Georgia Southern Greek Life has to offer.
Kappa Sigma is one of the oldest and largest fraternities on campus. Kappa Sigma has a long tradition of campus leadership through the SGA, IFC and many charitable organizations. The chapter’s brothers include members of the ROTC and varsity athletic teams. Kappa Sigma also prides itself on academic excellence consistently scoring above the All-Men’s GPA. Kappa Sigma regularly competes for the many intramural championships, and their social life is second to none. In the fall the chapter hosts football tailgate parties at every home game, including the annual Parents Weekend, and GSU Homecoming. In the spring semester there are sorority socials, the “Black and White” formal and the end of the year, week long “Gator Get-down” celebration.
At the heart of Kappa Sigma lie the Fraternity’s Four Pillars, which guide our ambitions and underpin our successes. Striving for excellence in Fellowship, Leadership, Scholarship and Service produces Brothers who are involved in all aspects of campus life; who excel academically as students and professionally upon graduation; who develop lifelong bonds with those around them and who support those peers; and who serve their colleges and communities. Becoming a Kappa Sigma provides the framework to build yourself into the man you want to be.
