Interfraternity Council Recruitment
Recruitment Opportunities
Fall 2009 Formal Recruitment
The recruitment schedule is
designed to give each participant the opportunity to meet all fraternities and
make an informed decision. Once initiated, fraternity membership is for a
lifetime.
Academic Requirements
Greek Incentive Program
- Students participating in this program must be a full-time, regularly enrolled student, having at least a 2.75 high school GPA (as calculated by the Office of Admissions).
Show proof of having met with their academic advisor at least once during their new member period.
Show proof of having participated in at least two pre-approved academic skills workshops during their new member period. These workshops should be a part of the chapter’s new member program and included in the calendar and program submitted to the Office of Greek Life.
Meet with the Greek Life Graduate Assistant on a weekly basis throughout the new member period. Progress reports from each of the new member’s professors are to be submitted to the Graduate Assistant at this meeting.
Students with a high school GPA of between 2.75 and 2.99 (as calculated by the Office of Admissions) must submit a completed "Greek Incentive Program Completion Form" to the Office of Greek Life prior to gaining permission to be initiated.
Chapters that accept members with a high school GPA between a 2.75 and a 2.99 (as calculated by the Office of Admissions) are responsible for ensuring that all such new members complete the Greek Incentive Program. New members that do not successfully complete the Greek Incentive Program are not to be initiated by the chapter. Any chapter that does not follow through with this will not be allowed to offer membership to potential new members with high school GPAs between a 2.75 and a 2.99 during the next fall recruitment period.
Students who have completed 12 or more hours of college work must have a 2.5 cumulative college GPA in order to participate in formal recruitment or receive open bids.
These requirements are set by the university and apply to all Greek-letter organizations. However, individual chapters may require a higher GPA when making membership decisions.
