NPHC Membership Intake
Membership into NPHC fraternity and sororities is based upon the possession of qualifications of the aspirants. To be considered for membership, a candidate must have completed a certain number of hours in college and have the required grade point average. These requirements can vary with each organization and the chapter can have higher requirements than the minimum requirements listed below.
- The minimum requirement to be eligible to join an NPHC organization is 2.5 and to have completed 12 hours in college. Organization may have more strict requirements.

NPHC organizations that offer membership to students of freshman status
(less than 24 hours of completed college work) are encouraged to have
their new members complete the Greek Incentive Program during their
intake process.
Greek Incentive Program
- Students participating in this program must be a full-time, regularly
enrolled student, having at least a 2.75 high school GPA (as calculated
by the Office of Admissions).
Show proof of having met with their academic advisor at least once
during their new member period.
Show proof of having participated in at least two pre-approved academic
skills workshops during their new member period. These workshops should
be a part of the chapter’s new member program and included in the
calendar and program submitted to the Office of Greek Life.
Meet with the Greek Life Graduate Assistant on a weekly basis throughout
the new member period. Progress reports from each of the new member’s
professors are to be submitted to the Graduate Assistant at this
meeting.
East Georgia students
are not eligible to join fraternities and sororities.
Students enrolled in the Georgia Tech program at Georgia Southern are eligible to join fraternities and sororities.
Grade requirements and hours are verified through the university.
Letters of recommendation from alumni/ae are usually required.
Groups can conduct intake each semester, skip semesters, or conduct one every other year. It is the decision of the individual group when to conduct intake.
When Intake is conducted, the Office of Greek Life is notified before the process begins.
If you participate in an illegal intake process or any hazing activities, you are jeopardizing your chances of becoming a true member of the organization and may be barred from membership for life.
