Grant Programs

Federal Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant is a need-based entitlement and is awarded based on the information provided on the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Pell Grant awards range from $400 to $4310. The Pell Grant is available to eligible undergraduate students who have not earned a baccalaureate degree.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
FSEOG is a limited-fund, need-based grant, also based on the information provided on the FAFSA.  FSEOG is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis to students with exceptional financial need, in average amounts of $600 per school year. Recipients must be an undergraduate students who have not already earned a baccalaureate degree.

Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
The Federal ACG will provide up to $750 for the first year of undergraduate study and up to $1300 for the second year of undergraduate study to full-time(12 credit hours or more) students who are U.S. citizens, eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, and who have successfully completed a rigorous high school program, as determined by the state or local education agency and recognized by the Secretary of Education. Second year students MUST also have maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0. First year eligible recipients must have graduated from high school after January 1, 2006 and second year eligible recipients must have graduated from high school after January 1, 2005.

National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant or National Smart Grant (SMART)
The National SMART Grant will provide up to $4,000 for each of the third and fourth year of undergraduate study to full-time students (12 credit hours or more) who are U.S. citizens, eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, and majoring in physical, life, or computer sciences, mathematics, technology, or engineering or in a foreign language determined critical to national security. Students must also have maintained a cumulative grade point average(GPA) of at least a 3.0 in coursework required for the major.

New SMART Grant Majors: Food Science, Food Technology and Processing, Environmental Science, Fishing and Fisheries Sciences and Management, Forest Sciences and Biology, Wood Sciences and Wood Products/Pulp and Paper Technology, Wildlife and Wildlands Science Management, Biopsychology, Nutrition Sciences, Physiological Psychology/Psychobiology.

Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (LEAP) 
LEAP is a limited-fund,need-based state grant.  Students must file the FAFSA by the priority filing date and be Pell grant eligible.  Average award amount is $1,000 per year.

Law Enforcement Personnel Dependents Grant
The Law Enforcement Personnel Dependents Grant is an award for children of Georgia law enforcement officers, firemen, and prison guards who have been permanently disabled or killed in the line of duty. The grant is $2,000 per school year not to exceed $8,000 during an entire program of study. Public Safety Memorial Grant
The Public Safety Memorial Grant is an award for children of Georgia law enforcement officers, firemen, and prison guards who have been permanently disabled or killed in the line of duty. The grant covers the cost of attendance minus other aid. Information on this grant may be received from the Georgia Student Finance Authority, 2082 East Exchange Place, Tucker, GA 30084. TEACH Grant
Beginning fall semester 2008, the federal TEACH (Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education) Grant Program may be available to Juniors, Seniors and Graduate students who have been accepted into the College of Education and have a 3.25 GPA or better.  For more detailed program information, click HERE.
