(students who have attempted less than 30 total credit hours AND who typically take less than 12 hours each term)
Freshmen who are enrolled in less than 12 hours each in fall and spring will not be evaluated for a 3.00 HOPE GPA at the end of spring term. Instead, if they remain less than full time during their third term of attendance, they will be checked for a 3.00 at the end of the THIRD TERM. After this third term checkpoint, part time students will be evaluated for the 3.00 at 30, 60, and 90 attempted hours AND every spring semester, just like their full time counterparts.
For example, Gus C. Eagle is a first time freshman. He enrolls in 11 hours Fall 2004. He earns all 11 hours with a 2.90 HOPE GPA. Gus C. enrolls in 6 hours Spring 2005. He earns all 6 hours with again a 2.90 HOPE GPA. Because Gus C. was not full time either Fall 2004 or Spring 2005, he
will not be checked for a 3.00 GPA at the end of Spring. Instead, Gus C. can have HOPE for Summer 2005, and if he is in less
than 12 hours during Summer 2005 he will be checked for a 3.00 GPA at that
point.
