Public or Private High School Counselors

Dual enrollment students attending a public or private high school must complete their GAfutures Dual Enrollment Scholarship Application before funds and fee waivers can be applied to their Georgia Southern accounts. Students are asked to complete this soon after being advised. Below is an overview of the scholarship application and award process.

  1. Student completes GAfutures Dual Enrollment Scholarship Application.
  2. Counselor receive the electronic application in STARS and maps the classes students are registered for at Georgia Southern to their high school equivalents.
  3. Counselor submits the application in STARS, which is then sent to the Office of Financial Aid at Georgia Southern.
  4. The Office of Financial Aid approves the application in SURFER and applies the dual enrollment funds and fee waivers to student’s account.

If there is a mistake on the dual enrollment application, it will be returned to the high school counselor for corrections. Students are expected to notify their Georgia Southern advisor and their high school counselor if a change is made to their schedule so the scholarship application can be updated.

Home Study Programs

Students attending a home study program must print and complete the paper GAfutures Dual Enrollment Scholarship Application. The paper application must be sent to Chrystina Wallace in Financial Aid to be completed before it can be submitted to the state office for approval. Home study students also have to complete the Home Study Program Participation Agreement, which is required once per academic year.
