Training Opportunities
Master's Practicum
Along with the variety of services offered to all students at Georgia
Southern University, the Counseling and Career Development Center serves
as a graduate training facility for counselors in training in master's
level programs in clinical psychology and counseling. In May of each year,
students from these programs are invited to apply for practicum positions
for the following academic year to fulfill the practice requirements for
their degrees. A two semester, 10 hour per week practicum is offered that
includes training in individual counseling and psychotherapy, weekly individual
supervision, and participation in a training seminar. Learn more...
Field Experience
The aim of this course is to provide undergraduate students with exposure
to a variety of work experiences typical of a Counseling Center environment
(except provision of direct clinical services to clients). Students
will have the opportunity to participate in Counseling Center research
projects and attend advanced training presentations on a variety of clinical
topics. In addition, field experience students may choose an emphasis
of either Campus Outreach or Website Psychoeducation during their semester
at our center. Learn more..
