Sport Management

Major Information

Sport Management is the study of business applied to the sport industry. Students explore elements of  marketing and sales, sponsorships, corporate strategic management, financing of small businesses, research  methods and statistics, personnel management, sport law, college athletics, and event management. The  Sport Management major at Georgia Southern provides academic preparation and practical experience in the  skills and techniques required to be successful in the Sport-Leisure-Business field. Sport Management is one  of the fastest growing fields of study in the country and is well established at both the undergraduate and the  graduate levels at Georgia Southern. Sport Management students experience a wide variety of internship  opportunities. They have worked with various major and minor league sports teams, colleges/universities,  sports media, and sport marketing agencies.

Professional Tips

  • Get involved in the Sport Management Club as they will inform you about volunteer and networking opportunities. 
  • Volunteer with the Masters’ Tournament, Chick-fil-A Bowl, etc.  
  • Through the Sport Management Club, you can attend networking events with the Braves and Jaguars. 

Résumé Tips

  • Bachelor of Science in Sport Management, Minor: Business  
  • Include any volunteer experience with sports related activities including the Eagles Event Team.
  • Include any internships or other experience such as assisting with the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
