Presentation Requests

Submit the online form below to request a program for a class, group, or student organization. Programs range from résumé writing, making career decisions, and business etiquette, to searching for a job or internship, going to graduate/professional school, and many more (see below for descriptions). Presentations can be requested live in-person, live via Zoom/Google Meet (synchronous), or recorded and able to be embedded into Folio (asynchronous).

Requirements for presentation requests:

  • Must be made no less than 10 business days prior to your desired date
  • Limit of two presentations per class/group per semester
  • No earlier than 8 a.m. and will conclude by 7 p.m., Monday-Friday
  • If after 5 p.m., must be at least 30 minutes in length

After receiving your request, a staff member from the OCPD will contact you within 2-3 business days to follow up. Requests are granted based on availability and are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Presentation Descriptions

Career Assessment Interpretation

Students will need to have completed the FOCUS (free) or MBTI ($18 fee) assessment prior to the presentation and will receive a group interpretation of the assessment.

Choosing a Major

Students will learn steps to take in choosing a major or career, including understanding more about their interests, skills, and values as they relate to their choice of major.

Four-Year Career Plan

Students will receive information on steps that they should complete each year while in school to be career-ready.

Graduate/Professional School Preparation

Students will learn more about how to plan and prepare for the graduate school application process including the timeline to begin.

Handshake

Students will receive a demonstration of Handshake, the online system that connects students to employers for internships, co-ops, and full-time jobs, including how to update their profile, search for jobs/internships, view/register for events, upload their résumé, and schedule an appointment with their Career & Internship Advisor.

Internships/Co-ops

Students will learn about the importance of acquiring relevant experience while in school and strategies to help them in locating internship or co-op opportunities.

Interviewing Skills

Students will learn what to expect during the interview process and strategies to successfully navigate the professional interview.

Job Search Strategies

Students will learn how to begin the job search process including strategies to assist in locating professional positions such as networking and LinkedIn.

Job Shadowing

Students will learn more about the importance of job shadowing and receive recommendations on how to connect with professionals to shadow.

Networking/Social Media/Online Networking

Students will learn the importance of networking during their job search and how to effectively utilize LinkedIn as part of their job search and network base.

OCPD Overview

Students will receive a brief overview of the services provided by OCPD as well as a demo of our Handshake system.  This is typically included in most presentations provided by the office. 

Professional/Business Etiquette

Students will learn more about professionalism in the world of work and the expectations that employers have that will enable them to be successful.

Résumé/Cover Letter Writing

Students will learn how to write a résumé and cover letter, including what types of sections to include and how to best market themselves to an employer through their documents.
